Get to know Nuclear Medicine Specialist and Obesity Medicine Physician Dr. James Paul Caplan, who serves patients in Texas.

Dr. Caplan is a nuclear medicine specialist with experience in all facets of the field, and a board certified obesity medicine physician. As the Founder and Medical Director of Helios Telemedicine for Longevity, an exclusively telemedicine-focused clinic, his primary focus is on addressing men’s health concerns, particularly symptomatic testosterone deficiency and issues related to overweight and obesity.

“My medical goal has always been to help my patients in their life’s journey to be the healthiest that they can be. Whether in training, as an emergency room physician, or as a nuclear medicine physician, I have tried my best to put my patients’ health and wellbeing first. That’s why I decided to grow into areas where I felt there was a significant need, unhealthy weight and men’s hormone deficiencies. My clinic is online assuring convenience. I do not sell products that I believe you could get elsewhere for less, but will give you advice on which supplements or non-prescription medications I believe may help. I am a physician first and Helios is a clinic first, business second, and the way I give you my time and attention shows it. I just want to treat you the way I would my friends and family.”

Treating patients in Texas, New York, Florida, and Missouri, Dr. Caplan takes on various pivotal roles. He serves as the Medical Director and Laboratory Director at Titan Men’s Health, fulfills the role of a nuclear medicine physician at Emergence Teleradiology, LLC, assumes the position of Medical Director and Radiation Safety Officer at Southampton Medical Imaging, and also practices as a nuclear medicine physician at Gulf Coast MRI & Diagnostic.

His commitment revolves around offering exceptional healthcare to his patients, ensuring accessibility from their preferred locations for concerns related to unhealthy weight or specific men’s hormonal medical issues. With a long-term perspective in mind, he is dedicated to being a supportive and constant presence for his patients throughout their health journey.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Caplan began his journey at Baylor College of Medicine, where he graduated with his Medical Degree in the class of 1985. Following this, he pursued a residency in surgery at SUNY Upstate Medical University from 1985 to 1987. He subsequently transitioned to nuclear medicine, completing a residency at the University of California (San Diego) Medical Center from 1990 to 1991.

Thereafter, Dr. Caplan continued to hone his expertise in nuclear medicine with a further residency from 1991 to 1992 at Baylor College of Medicine.

An authority in his field, he is board certified in nuclear medicine by the American Board of Nuclear Medicine, and in obesity medicine by the American Board of Obesity Medicine.

In addition, he is an esteemed member of several professional organizations, including the the Obesity Medical Association and the Society of Nuclear Medicine and Metabolic Imaging.

Nuclear medicine is a medical specialty involving the application of radioactive substances in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Nuclear medicine physicians are medical specialists who use tracers, usually radiopharmaceuticals, for diagnosis and therapy. Nuclear medicine procedures are the major clinical applications of molecular imaging and molecular therapy.

Obesity medicine is a field of medicine dedicated to the comprehensive treatment of patients with obesity. Obesity medicine physicians should be skilled in identifying factors which have contributed to obesity and know how to employ methods (behavior modification, pharmacotherapy, and surgery) to treat obesity.
