Get to know Interventional Pain Management Specialist, Dr. Narayan S. Tata, who serves patients in Illinois.

Board certified interventional pain medicine specialist, Dr. Tata maintains a private practice, Midwest Sports and Pain Specialists PC, located in Naperville, Illinois. Areas of special interest include treatment for low back pain, neck pain, thoracic pain, musculoskeletal injuries, spinal disorders, chronic and acute pain, osteoarthritis, and more. He serves patients residing in Will, Dupage, and Kane counties. Dr. Tata is also affiliated with Northwestern Medicine Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield, Illinois, and AMITA Health Adventist Medical Center Bolingbrook in Bolingbrook, Illinois. 

“He performs fluoroscopically guided injections into the spine to help alleviate back and neck pain. He also performs trigger point injections in the management of myofascial pain, joint and soft tissue injections of the upper and lower extremities and diagnostic studies such as Electromyography/ nerve conduction studies. He takes pride in performing high level interventional procedures such as discography of the cervical and lumbar spine, IDET’s, Nucleoplasty (percutaneous microdiscectomy), trial of spinal cord stimulators etc.”, states the official website of his practice. 

After earning his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Illinois, Dr. Tata earned his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Illinois, in 1998. Furthermore, he served his internship and residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Northwestern University Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (2002). He advanced his training with a fellowship in interventional pain management at Georgia Pain Physicians/Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia (2003). He continues to attend specialized training courses in the latest techniques in pain management and participates in continuing medical education.

Dr. Tata attained board certification in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and Pain Medicine through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The ABPMR was established in 1947 as the certifying body for the field of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation under the American Board of Medical Specialties. Dr. Tata is a member of the American Society for Interventional Pain Physicians, the International Spine Intervention Society, and the American Medical Association.
