Dr. Lock is a board-certified internist, pulmonologist, and critical care physician practicing at Piedmont Physicians Pulmonary & Sleep Medicine of Marietta in Marietta, Georgia. In practice for 15 years, he specializes in cough and respiratory diseases including COPD, asthma, and bronchiectasis. Prior to his current endeavors, Dr. Lock worked with Georgia Lung Associates for 7 years. His colleagues describe him as passionate about the practice of medicine, and very energetic and industrious with regard to patient care.

Dr. Lock is a 1999-graduate of Wayne State University School of Medicine in detroit, Michigan. He then completed his internal medicine residency (1999 – 2002) at the University of Alabama Hospital at Birmingham in Birmingham, Alabama, where he remained to complete his pulmonary medicine and critical care medicine fellowship (2003 – 2006). Dr. Lock earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Kalamazoo College in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Moreover, he was chosen to serve as Chief Resident for one year after the completion of his internal medicine residency (2002 – 2003), and served as Chief Fellow during his final year of fellowship training (2005 – 2006).

Dr. Lock holds three board certifications with the American Board of Internal Medicine, i.e., critical care medicine, pulmonary disease medicine, and internal medicine. The American Board of Internal Medicine is a 501 nonprofit, self-appointed physician-evaluation organization that certifies physicians practicing internal medicine and its subspecialties. 

Internal medicine or general internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of internal diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists.

Critical care medicine, or intensive care medicine, is a medical specialty that deals with seriously or critically ill patients who have, are at risk of, or are recovering from conditions that may be life-threatening.

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. Pulmonology is considered a branch of internal medicine, and is related to intensive care medicine.
