Originally from New Delhi, India, Dr. Anand received her medical degree at Ramaiah Medical College in Bangalore, graduating in the top 1st percentile of her class. After relocating to the United States, she did a year of Preliminary Medicine at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia, where she received the “Outstanding Intern” Award.
She subsequently went on to complete her residency in anatomic & clinical pathology at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Her residency was followed by a year of a coveted fellowship in dermatopathology, under the mentorship of Dr. Clay Cockerell, at the University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas.
An expert in her field, the doctor is board-certified in dermatopathology & anatomic and clinical pathology by the American Board of Pathology (ABPath). The mission of the ABPath is to promote the health of the public and advance the practice and science of pathology by establishing voluntary certification standards and assessing the qualifications of those seeking to practice the specialty of pathology.
Among her professional affiliations, she is on the Board of Directors for the annual Zola Cooper Lee T. Nesbitt Seminar. She is an active member of several organizations, including the Atlanta Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery Society, the Georgia Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, and the American Society of Dermatopathology.
Passionate about education, Dr. Anand is the Clinical Associate Professor of Medicine at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, serves as the Program Director of Dermatopathology at D.O Dermatology Residency in Atlanta, and is continuously on the teaching roster for didactic sessions for the dermatology residents at the Medical College of Georgia and Emory University School of Medicine. She is the recipient of the 2019 Voluntary Faculty Teaching Award from Emory.
To boot, Dr. Anand has been successfully running a well-reputed annual Dermatopathology Board Review course for dermatology residents since 2012. Finally, she runs a biannual CME accredited dermatopathology teaching course for ancillary physician providers.
Dermatopathology is a joint subspecialty of dermatology and pathology or surgical pathology that focuses on the study of cutaneous diseases at a microscopic and molecular level. It also encompasses analyses of the potential causes of skin diseases at a basic level.
