Get to know Plastic Surgeon Dr. Marc Liang, who serves patients in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Dr. Liang, an esteemed plastic surgeon, is the Founder of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. He has been in practice for over 30 years, specializing in facial and body contouring cosmetic procedures, as well as non-invasive treatments.
Well known for his artistic attention to detail, Dr. Liang strives to achieve naturally beautiful results with both surgical and non-surgical techniques. He applies his extensive knowledge of aesthetic plastic surgery to tailor his surgical technique to the very specific desires of each individual patient. He provides excellent patient care throughout all stages of treatment. He takes pride in spending the necessary amount of time with his patients to ensure his practice provides them with optimal individualized care.
He recently added an “anti-aging” component to his practice to complement his surgical component. This allows him to optimize patients’ health and wellness by focusing on nutrition, exercise, and hormone balancing. He strongly believes that aging should be beautiful both internally and externally. He will often tell his patients that they cannot achieve the optimal cosmetic result, if they are not functioning well internally; he compares it to painting a classic car but not revising the engine. One’s external appearance compliments their internal function, so it is important to focus on both factors in parallel.
A 1978 graduate of the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine, Dr. Liang completed his post-graduate internship and residency at the University of Pittsburgh. He then performed a fellowship at M.D. Anderson Hospital and Tumor Institute.
The doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery, which was organized as a subsidiary of the American Board of Surgery in 1938.
Prior to his current endeavors, Dr. Liang served as a Clinical Associate Professor of Plastic Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, and as a Clinical Preceptor for the Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Chatham University.
In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, he is an active member of the Greater Pittsburgh Plastic Surgery Society, the Ohio Valley Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Northeastern Society of Plastic Surgeons, and Robert H. Ivy Pennsylvania Plastic Surgery Society.

It can be divided into two main categories – reconstructive surgery and cosmetic surgery. A plastic surgeon’s primary responsibility is performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and they use a variety of reparative and reconstructive techniques to get the job done.
Very active in the field of plastic surgery, Dr. Liang has presented at multiple international and national meetings, written more than 50 peer reviewed publications, and holds several US patents, including the co-inventor of Lysonix 3000 Ultrasonic Liposuction Machine.
Over the years, Dr. Liang has received numerous consecutive awards, including Castle Connelly’s Top Doctor, Patient’s Choice Award of Pennsylvania’s Favorite Physician, Ten Best Plastic Surgeon’s Patient Satisfaction by the American Academy Institute of Plastic Surgery, as well as Top Doctor and Best Doctor by Pittsburgh Magazine.
