Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Joseph Max Sanchez, who serves patients in California.

Passionate about the field of nephrology, Dr. Sanchez is affiliated with Nephrology Associates Medical Group, seeing patients at the offices in Palm Springs, Palm Desert, and Indio, California. He specializes in chronic renal failure & dialysis, kidney biopsy, and end stage renal disease.

Nephrology Associates Medical Group (NAMG) is engaged in the practice of nephrology, or kidney treatment, in Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. It has been treating patients for over 40 years and currently cares for patients at its 16 offices and vast network of dialysis units and hospitals throughout the Inland Empire. The nephrologists are also medical directors of outpatient dialysis centers that are closely located to the facilities.

In addition to being a Partner at Nephrology Associates Medical Group, Dr. Sanchez holds the position of Chairman of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee at Eisenhower Medical Center. Furthermore, he is affiliated with Desert Regional Medical Center, John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital, and Redlands Community Hospital.

Regarding his educational background, Dr. Sanchez earned his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 1998. He then completed his internship, his residency in internal medicine, and his fellowship in nephrology with the University of Michigan Health System.

Licensed to practice medicine in California, he is board-certified in nephrology and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatric medicine that concerns itself with the kidneys: the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. A nephrologist is a medical doctor who specializes in kidney care and treating diseases of the kidneys. 

A stellar teacher in his own right, Dr. Sanchez has been the recipient of the Bronze Beeper Teaching Award from the University of Michigan School of Medicine. He also received the On-Time Doctor Award in 2018.

On a more personal note, in addition to English, he speaks Spanish and Tagalog.
