  • Is scoliosis preventable?

In a nutshell, no. Scoliosis is manageable, and can be returned in most cases to normal if caught in youth however at an older age, we now prevent further curvature and give exercises, mirror image traction and postural homework to untangle the spine as best we can. Check out CBP (chiropractic biomechanics) for a full listing of spinal specialists. (I'm a sports chiropractor and have learned of this field but it is not my field of practice). READ MORE

  • Very tight neck

Yes. The problem is in finding the cause of your tightness. If muscle work itself isn't solving the problem, then taking a deeper look with a musculoskeletal specialist (one looking at the relationship between bone and joint and how they interplay via muscles) is the next step. Choose wisely- a good chiropractor will spend more than 5 minutes with you and focuses on the entire spine, your posture and your work positioning/daily habits. READ MORE

  • Back exercises after adjustments?

Depending on your injury, there are MANY exercises that will help with your low back. Here is a video I made to assist ;-) https://youtu.be/Kzzhh7sQsIw READ MORE

  • Experiencing numbness and pain after elbow fracture treatment. Why is this happening?

Most likely, swelling is pressing onto the nerve. Once swelling has decreased and the muscles overlapping the area are lax, the symptoms should resolve. READ MORE

  • My left shoulder is broader than the right. Is this a growth problem?

Your shoulder most likely appears more broad from a muscular imbalance OR a postural abnormality. If one pec muscle is tighter, that shoulder pulls forward and hangs lower, concurrently- if one trap is tighter or deltoid is tighter, that shoulder will sit higher due to muscle tone. Go get a massage and see if your therapist can figure it out, after that if it is still off, go see a physical therapist or a Rolfer. ;-) READ MORE

  • My mother has developed a problem of shaking hands. What could be the reason behind it?

This most likely is a neurological issue OR a drug side effect. I'd have a discussion with her General Practitioner and discuss meeting with a Neurologist. They will also check her blood panels to rule out an autoimmune or blood sugar issue. READ MORE

  • My father is suffering from severe back pain. Can it be treated with manual adjustment of the spine?

Absolutely, this is how Chiropractic became so popular and why DPTs are now doing it in their office. I'd take him into a doctor to be examined to see if it is right for him, in some cases (like over-flexibility, bone weakening disorders or blood pressure issues) the doctor will choose spinal mobilizations or a hand held adjustment instrument as compared to manual adjustments by hand. • Should I see a chiro after a car accident?

At the 4 month mark, if you haven't let your insurance know that you have been in an accident , the likelihood of them covering care is LOW. With this said, many docs have discounted treatment plans (I have a $55/visit 4pack after the first visit) so shop around and find a good doctor who has great reviews. It might be you feel better in just a few visits (Many in one or two) and others need up to 6. With this said, my visits are 30 minutes long and we do lots of muscle work and physiotherapy homework. Remember, your body is worth it and your care shouldn't depend on who pays for it. Let pain be your guide in homecare and get massage/chiropractic care on that area until it feels back to normal...With care thereafter to ensure it is at optimum. READ MORE

  • My back hurts when I sit down. Why?

This pain could be coming from a tight muscle feeling overworked (such as those that stabilize you while you sit all day) which may be tired from a long car ride, repetitive stress from doing the same task every day, or sleeping in too twisted or too prolonged of a position. If you haven't had any trauma (car accident/slip and fall), I'd head in for a massage to see if that helps. Have them focus on that area. After that, you can see a chiropractor if your back still feels locked up or stuck in certain areas. I recommend monthly or quarterly visits for prevention sake to both providers to ensure your healthy back lasts for a lifetime and you don't have any new symptoms. With this said, I see the dentist every few years, so use as needed. ;-) READ MORE
