Get to know Podiatrist Dr. James M. DeJesus, who serves patients in Naugatuck, Connecticut.

Dr. DeJesus is a board-certified podiatrist who specializes in podiatry and foot surgery at Family Footcare in Naugatuck, Connecticut.

Dedicated to excellence, the doctors at Family Footcare offer gentle foot care for all ages. They specialize in the medical and surgical treatment for all foot and ankle conditions, including nail and skin conditions, diabetic foot care, sports injuries, foot and ankle trauma, foot pain, and stem cell therapy. 

He is currently the site director at Naugatuck Valley Surgical Center for the Yale Podiatric Surgical Residency program. He has served as a guest lecturer at various seminars nationwide and has moderated several foot and ankle instructional cadaveric labs for podiatric and ankle surgeons, residents, and representatives of orthopedic appliance companies.

At the start of his academic career, Dr. DeJesus received his pharmacy degree from St. John’s University in New York. He then went on to graduate with his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from the New York College of Podiatric Medicine in 1987, after which he completed his podiatric surgical residency in West Haven, Connecticut in 1989. 

With an unwavering commitment to his speciality, the doctor is board-certified through the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery (ABFAS). The mission of the ABFAS is to protect and improve the health and welfare of the public by the advancement of the art and science of podiatric surgery.

Among his professional affiliations, Dr. DeJesus is a Fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons, a Fellow of the American College of Foot Orthopedics, the President-Elect of the Connecticut Podiatric Medical Association, and a member of the American Society of Podiatric Surgeons.

A podiatrist, also known as a podiatric physician or a foot and ankle surgeon, is a medical professional devoted to the treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower extremity. They can treat injuries and complications from ongoing health issues like diabetes.
