Get to know Vascular Surgeon Dr. Matthew W. Lawrence, who serves patients in Wilmington, Delaware. Dr. Lawrence currently serves as the Medical Director of the Advanced Wound Care Center at Saint Francis Healthcare in Wilmington, Delaware. For more than ninety years, Saint Francis Healthcare has served the Wilmington community and Northern New Castle County by providing compassionate health care of the highest quality. Their Advanced Wound Center focuses on chronic and non-healing wounds using advanced treatment modalities and a case management model. The center is equipped with two hyperbaric oxygen chambers, which provide hyperbaric therapy services. Furthermore, Dr. Lawrence is a faculty member in the Department of Surgery at Drexel University College of Medicine. Drexel University College of Medicine represents the consolidation of two venerable medical schools with rich and intertwined histories: Hahnemann Medical College and Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania. Its mission is to excel and innovate in education, research, and delivery of compassionate care. Dr. Lawrence previously served at Saint Francis Healthcare as the Medical Director of the Wound Care Center and as the Chairman of the Division of Vascular Surgery. He has also held positions at Jennersville Regional Hospital in West Grove, Pennsylvania and Union Hospital in Elkton, Maryland. Dr. Lawrence received his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree in from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1998. Dr. Lawrence is board-certified in both General and Vascular Surgery. He is also a member of the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). As the primary certifying body for DOs and the accrediting agency for all osteopathic medical schools, the AOA works to accentuate the distinctiveness of osteopathic principles and the diversity of the profession. In addition to promoting public health and encouraging scientific research, the AOA advocates at the state and federal levels on issues that affect DOs, osteopathic medical students and patients. Dr. Lawrence is a Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons. The ACOS is committed to promoting excellence in osteopathic surgical care through education, advocacy, leadership development, and the fostering of professional and personal relationships. The designation of Fellow of the American College of Osteopathic Surgeons (FACOS) is conferred upon ACOS members, honorary members, and life and retired members in recognition of their voluntary activities and service to advance osteopathic medicine and surgery. Dr. Lawrence has received several awards throughout his line of work, including On-Time Doctor Award (2016,2017,2018), Patients’ Choice Award (2016,2017,2018), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2016,2017,2018).
