Get to know Periodontist Dr. David Rosania, who serves patients in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. 

Dr. Rosania, a board-certified periodontist, was the first surgeon in the Portsmouth region to place a modern-era dental implant over 30 years ago. Since then, he has placed several thousand dental implants, and has performed well over 20,000 periodontal surgical procedures. 

At present, he tends to patients’ dental needs at Seacoast Periodontics & Dental Implants in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. He works alongside his daughter, Dr. Amy Rosania.

With their combination of 40 years’ experience and training in the newest techniques, the father-daughter duo specialize in treating gum disease with conventional and laser periodontal therapy, as well as dental implant placement, gum grafting, and crown lengthening. With a primary goal is to save teeth whenever possible, they intend to meet patients’ needs and expectations and avoid surprises. 

Dr. Rosania earned his Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology and Psychology from Tufts University. He then went on to obtain his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree and a speciality certificate in periodontics from the University of Connecticut. In 2008, he earned his Master of Science (MS) degree, again at Tufts University. 

A past President of the Rockingham County Dental Society, Dr. Rosania is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Periodontology, and the International Association of Periodontal Plastic Surgeons. He is also board-certified through the American Board of Periodontology, an organization which serves the public and the dental profession by administering the board certification process for experts in the dental specialty of periodontics.

Dr. Rosania is committed to treating his patients with dignity and with providing a personalized experience with minimum stress. He founded a 30-year-long dental study club and authors The Perio Perspective, a newsletter for local dentists and hygienists. From 2009 – 2014, he indulged his love for teaching at The Governor’s Academy, where he taught biology, physics, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, and environmental science, while continuing to practice periodontics and implant therapy. 

Periodontology is the specialty of dentistry that studies supporting structures of teeth, as well as diseases and conditions that affect them. A periodontist specializes in the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of periodontal disease, and in the placement of dental implants. Periodontists are familiar with the latest techniques for diagnosing and treating periodontal disease and are trained in cosmetic periodontal procedures and grafting procedures to rebuild lost bone and gum tissue.

Happily married, Dr. Rosania and his wife, Pam, have three grown children and two granddaughters. His hobbies include running triathlons, playing the electric guitar, studying science, psychology, and philosophy, as well as trying to keep up with his daughter Amy in running and skiing. 

Drs. Amy and David Rosania were both included on the National Consumer Advisory Board’s list of America’s Best Dentists for 2017-2019. They were also voted onto New Hampshire Magazine’s list of New Hampshire’s Best Dentists by their dental colleagues from 2017 to 2019.
