Get to know Obstetrician-Gynecologist Dr. Cynthia K. Fernandez, who serves patients in Columbus, Georgia.

Dr. Fernandez is a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist who has three decades of experience in her field. She can be found on staff at St. Francis OBGYN Associates in Columbus, Georgia.

Established in 1950, OBGYN Associates in partnership with St. Francis Hospital, has been the premier medical group giving family-centered obstetrical and gynecologic care for women of all generations. The staff offer medical care at St. Francis Hospital and Piedmont Columbus Regional. They also provide in-office ultrasound and laboratory testing.

A 1987 graduate of the Medical College of Georgia, Dr. Fernandez went on to complete her internship and residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the same educational venue in 1988 and 1991, respectively. 

Following her training, she became board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology, which is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada. 

Obstetrics and Gynecology is the medical specialty that encompasses the two subspecialties of obstetrics (covering pregnancy, childbirth, and the postpartum period) and gynecology (covering the health of the female reproductive system – vagina, uterus, ovaries, and breasts). An obstetrician-gynecologist, or OB-GYN, is a healthcare professional who specializes in female reproductive health.
