Get to know Diagnostic Radiologist Dr. Michael LaBenz, who serves patients in Flagstaff, Arizona.

Well-known in the field of diagnostic radiology, Dr. LaBenz is affiliated with Northern Arizona Radiology. He specializes in diagnostic and interventional radiology, performing CT scans, MRIs, ultrasounds, X-Rays, and PET scans.

Established in 1962, Northern Arizona Radiology is a dedicated team of experienced, board-certified radiologists, licensed technologists, and caring staff who strive to provide the highest quality medical imaging to all of Northern Arizona. They provide a full range of state-of-the-art digital outpatient imaging services, including not only diagnostic imaging studies, such as x-rays, mammography, and ultrasound, but a wide range of nuclear, CT and MRI examinations.

In addition to their own office, the radiologists of Northern Arizona Radiology staff the Departments of Radiology at Flagstaff Medical Center, Verde Valley Medical Center, Little Colorado Medical Center (formerly Winslow Memorial Hospital), and the Winslow Indian Health Center, as well as provide interpretations for many local and regional facilities, such as Sedona Medical Center, North Country Community Health Center, Campus Health Center (formerly Fronske), Grand Canyon Clinic, and Williams Health Care Center.

Educated in the United States, Dr. LaBenz earned his medical degree from the Creighton University School of Medicine in 1995. He completed his internship in internal medicine at Creighton University in 1996, after which he returned to Creighton University to complete his residency in diagnostic radiology in 2000.

A member of the American Medical Association, he is board-certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is a not-for-profit physician-led organization that oversees the certification and ongoing professional development of specialists in diagnostic radiology, interventional radiology, radiation oncology, and medical physics.

Diagnostic radiology refers to the field of medicine that uses non-invasive imaging scans to diagnose a patient. The tests and equipment used sometimes involve low doses of radiation to create highly detailed images of an area. A diagnostic radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating disease and injury, using medical imaging techniques such as x-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET), fusion imaging, and ultrasound.
