Academically, Dr. Lewis graduated with his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health in 1990. He then went on to perform his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the same educational venue in 1994, followed by his fellowship in maternal and fetal medicine at MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in 1996.
A Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), he is board-certified in obstetrics and gynecology & maternal and fetal medicine by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG is a non-profit organization that provides board certification for practicing obstetricians and gynecologists in the United States and Canada.
Alongside his clinical role, Dr. Lewis serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor within the Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. The department provides a learning experience that encourages each student, regardless of ultimate career choice, to develop professional attitudes, diagnostic skills, and knowledge relevant to the human female and to her sexual and reproductive systems.
