A committed physiatrist, Dr. Doss is affiliated with Durham VA Medical Center, and serves as a Clinical Associate Professor within the Department of Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation at the ECU Brody School of Medicine.

The Durham VA Medical Center has been improving the health of the men and women who have so proudly served the United States. They consider it their privilege to serve patients’ healthcare needs in any way they can. Services are available to more than 200,000 Veterans living in a 27-county area of central and eastern North Carolina.

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Doss received his Bachelor of Science degree and medical degree from the University of Michigan and Howard University College of Medicine, respectively, and earned his Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from Auburn University. He completed his residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at the Baylor College of Medicine.

Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in physical medicine & rehabilitation and electrodiagnostic medicine through the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation (PM&R). This is accomplished through a process of certification and maintenance of certification that fosters excellence and encourages continuous learning.

Physical medicine and rehabilitation, also known as physiatry, is a branch of medicine that aims to enhance and restore functional ability and quality of life to those with physical impairments or disabilities. Physiatrists treat a wide variety of medical conditions affecting the brain, spinal cord, nerves, bones, joints, ligaments, muscles, and tendons.
