Dr. Gottlieb is an internist, cardiologist & cardiac electrophysiologist who is currently serving patients at Abington Medical Specialists (AMS) Cardiology in Abington, Pennsylvania. Dr. Gottlieb is also the Director of the Electrophysiology Laboratory at Abington Memorial Hospital in Abington, Pennsylvania. Abington Memorial Hospital is a 65-bed, regional referral center and teaching hospital, which has been providing comprehensive, high-quality services for people in Montgomery, Bucks and Philadelphia counties for more than 100 years. 

Dr. Gottlieb earned his undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and his medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine. After completion of his internship and residency at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, he was fellow-trained in cardiology at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center. 

Dr. Gottlieb is board-certified in internal medicine, cardiology, and electrophysiology. Dr. Gottlieb is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC). He is also a member of the American College of Physicians, the North American Society of Pacing and Electrophysiology, and the International Society for Holter and Noninvasive Electrocardiology. 

Over the length of his medical career, Dr. Gottlieb has written and published numerous publications. Additionally, he has given many presentations and lectures in his area of specialty. Dr. Gottlieb’s areas of interest include pharmacological arrhythmia management, implantation/management of implantable devices, and radiofrequency ablation procedures.

Internal medicine or general medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists.

Cardiology is a branch of internal medicine. A cardiologist is not the same as a cardiac surgeon. A cardiac surgeon opens the chest and performs heart surgery. A cardiologist like Dr. Gottlieb, specializes in diagnosing and treating diseases of the cardiovascular system. 

Cardiac electrophysiology is the science of elucidating, diagnosing, and treating the electrical activity of the heart. The term is usually used to describe studies of such phenomena by invasive catheter recording of spontaneous activity, as well as of cardiac responses to programmed electrical stimulation. A cardiac electrophysiologist is a healthcare provider who treats heart rhythm problems.
