Get to know Hematologist-Oncologist Dr. Ester B. Pollard, who serves patients in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Dr. Pollard is a board-certified hematologist-oncologist who is affiliated with Coastal Bend Oncology & Hematology in Texas. Coastal Bend Oncology & Hematology is an institution that is dedicated and committed to providing the highest quality healthcare for every patient. Dr. Pollard finds joy in the little victories along the way, such as helping patients get access to medications they need, even when they are denied by their insurance.

Dr. Pollard earned her medical degree from the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1976. She completed her internship at Wayne State University School of Medicine, her residency at Harlem Hospital Center, and her fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio.

Dr. Pollard is board-certified in both internal medicine and medical oncology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Dr. Pollard is a member of the American Medical Association, the Texas Medical Association, and the American Society of Clinical Oncology. She is also a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Pollard attributes her success to her passion for helping others. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, gardening, and spending time with her loved ones. 

Hematology is the branch of medicine concerned with the study of the cause, prognosis, treatment, and prevention of disorders related to blood. Oncology is a branch of medicine that deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer. A hematologist-oncologist, like Dr. Pollard, is a physician who specializes in the diagnosis, treatment, and/or prevention of blood disorders and cancers.
