Sanjeev U. Nair was formally trained in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Critical Care in India and was awarded a Doctorate in Medicine. He continued his training in the United Kingdom prior to migrating to the United States. In the USA he completed his internship and residency training at the prestigious Case Western Reserve University and the Stamford/Columbia College of Physicians & Surgeons programs respectively. He then went on to pursue research and clinical work at the University of Connecticut prior to completion of his Cardiovascular training. He underwent further training in Interventional Cardiology as a Chief Fellow at the Michigan State University program under the mentorship of Dr. Tim Fischell, one of the inventors of the coronary stent. He received a comprehensive training in complex coronary, peripheral and structural interventions during that time.
Dr. Nair is widely published and has multiple peer-reviewed publications in the field of cardiology to his name. He has also presented numerous research abstracts at national and international meetings and has authored multiple textbook chapters in cardiology. He has been nominated for several research awards and was awarded the Young Investigator Award by the Resuscitation Council of the American Heart Association in 2011. His primary research interests include sudden cardiac death and cardiac arrest, therapeutic hypothermia, nuclear cardiology and cardiovascular interventions especially related to structural heart disease.
He is board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM) for Internal Medicine, Cardiovascular Medicine and Interventional Cardiology, the National Board of Echocardiography (NBE) for comprehensive adult echocardiography, the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology (CBNC) for nuclear study interpretation, the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) as registered physician for vascular interpretation (RPVI) and the Society of Cardiovascular Computed Tomography(SCCT).
He is also a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (FACC) and Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions (FSCAI) which are distinguished designations from the American College of Cardiology and Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions respectively in recognition of Dr Nair’s professional achievement, commitment to quality and a mark of excellence among his peers.
His training and practice includes Interventional Cardiology – coronary angioplasty and stenting through radial, ulnar or femoral artery access, complex coronary interventions (higher risk patients and chronic total occlusions), use of hemodynamic support devices (intra-aortic balloon pump, Impella and Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenator-ECMO) for unstable patients, peripheral angioplasty and stenting, atherectomy, intra-arterial thrombolysis, aspiration thrombectomy, structural heart interventions such as ASD/ PFO closures and TAVR, venous disorders – IVC filter placement through femoral access. Dr. Nair also holds interest in general cardiology specifically preventive medicine, heart failure, coronary disease, preoperative cardiovascular evaluation, valvular heart disease, atrial fibrillation/flutter, cardiovascular disease in the elderly and congenital heart disease.
Dr. Nair is passionate about teaching the next generation of clinicians and cardiologists. He has held faculty positions with the University of Connecticut and Michigan State University in the past. He currently holds a faculty position as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of North Texas Health Science Center in Fort Worth. 
Dr. Nair resides in Fort Worth with his wife and children. When he has time away from work he enjoys reading, listening to jazz/blues and classical music, working out and spending time with family.
