Get to know Plastic Surgeon Dr. Bruce Sterman, who serves patients in Akron, Ohio.

Dr. Sterman is a top otolaryngologist who can be found on staff at Cleveland Clinic Akron General and Akron Children’s Hospital – both of which are located in Akron, Ohio.

Founded in 1914 as People’s Hospital, Cleveland Clinic Akron General is a not-for-profit healthcare organization that serves as the hub for Cleveland Clinic’s Southern Region. In addition to a 532-registered-bed teaching and research medical center in downtown Akron, the Cleveland Clinic Akron General system includes Lodi Hospital and Health & Wellness Centers. 

From common illnesses such as ear infections, sinusitis, and obstructive sleep apnea to more unusual disorders like congenital hearing loss and neck masses, Akron Children’s Hospital specialists are trained in managing and treating children with diseases and disorders of the ear, nose, throat, and related parts of the head and neck.

Back in 1985, Dr. Sterman earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine. He then went on to complete his internship in surgery and his residency in otorhinolaryngology at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in 1987 and 1990, respectively. This was followed by a fellowship in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Park Central Institute in 1991.

Passionate about his profession, the doctor is a Diplomate of the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. He is also a Fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Otolaryngology is the oldest medical specialty in the United States. Otolaryngologists, also known as ear, nose, and throat doctors, specialize in disorders of the head and neck, ranging from hearing loss to cancer.
