A 1987 graduate of the University of Texas Health Science Center – San Antonio, Dr. Childs went on to perform his internship in General surgery and his residency in Urology at the University of Kentucky, where his last year he served as chief resident.
Specializing in diseases of the urinary tract and the male reproductive system, he is board-certified in urology by the American Board of Urology (ABU). The mission of the ABU is to act for the benefit of the public by establishing and maintaining standards of certification for urologists, and working with certified urologists to achieve lifelong learning to ensure the delivery of high quality, safe, and ethical urologic care.
In addition to being a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), Dr. Childs is a member of the American Medical Association, the Utah Medical Association, the Salt Lake County Medical Society (past President), and the American Urological Association (member of the national Coding and Reimbursement Committee and Chair of the National Insurance Advisory Workgroup).
Licensed to practice medicine in Utah, he holds medical privileges to admit patients and practice at these hospitals: St. Mark’s Hospital, Alta View Hospital, Lone Peak Hospital, Intermountain Medical Center, Riverton Hospital, and LDS Hospital.
