Get to know Dentist Dr. Jesus L. Sojo, who serves patients in Oldsmar, Florida.

Dr. Sojo is a reputable, comprehensive dentist who enjoys providing top-quality care and the best customer service experience to patients at East Lake Dental Associates in Oldsmar, Florida. He has vast experience in prosthodontics, endodontics, and cosmetic dentistry, as well as has a unique caring approach for patients with dental phobias, helping them to overcome fear and restore the confidence to seek care and improve their oral health. 

Growing up in Puerto Rico, Dr. Sojo attended the University of Puerto Rico in Rio Piedras for his undergraduate studies. He was commissioned as an officer in the US Army and left in 1986 to complete a tour in Germany. After his military service, he pursued a new course and began studies at the University of Louisville School of Dentistry, from which he obtained his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree in 1996.  

Upon graduation, he received a scholarship and commission with the US Air Force, where he completed a residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry. He also completed advanced courses in pathology, oral surgery, forensics, and orofacial pain. Thereafter, Dr. Sojo served overseas in the Pacific and Europe for 12 consecutive years, maintaining a comprehensive general dentistry practice in addition to many senior-level duties, including serving as a Director of two dental facilities, leading mass disaster contingency response teams, and staffing new dentists in a residency program. He routinely provided leadership, mentorship, and lectures for the dentists and staff. 

After 30 years of military service, Dr. Sojo retired from the Air Force as a Colonel in 2015 and moved to Tampa to continue his practice in the private sector. He was named Tampa Top Dentist in Tampa Style Magazine in 2019.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy. 

During his free time, Dr. Sojo enjoys spending time with his family, scuba diving, boating, snowboarding, motorcycle riding, and listening to music. He is fluent in both English and Spanish.
