His unique background includes extensive training and expertise in cartilage restoration, complex multi-ligament knee injuries, joint preserving osteotomies, as well as treatment of complex shoulder conditions, ranging from shoulder instability and rotator cuff repair surgery to shoulder replacement surgery.

Despite his efforts to advance orthopedic medicine and orthopedic innovation, Dr. Frank’s primary focus is helping patients return to their previous level of function and activity, and to ensure they remain active. He believes superior outcomes are achieved through the proper utilization of cutting edge techniques, excellent communication with patients and detailed rehabilitation. His ultimate goal is to return all patients to their prior health through extensive nonsurgical treatment as well as advanced surgical techniques when needed.

Growing up in sunny Southern California, Dr. Frank attended UCLA, earning dual degrees in History and Molecular, Cell, and Developmental Biology, as well as minoring in Near Eastern Languages and Cultures. As an undergraduate, his research was published in multiple scientific journals. Upon completion of his undergraduate studies, he conducted an additional year of research in the Department of Neurology at Cedar Sinai Medical Center. He further pursued his research interests while attending the UCLA School of Medicine where he earned multiple distinctions and presented his research in both regional and national orthopedic conferences.

He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago where he participated in sports team coverage for several local colleges and professional teams including the Chicago White Sox, Chicago Bulls, and Roosevelt University Men’s and Women’s basketball. As a resident, he was selected for the American Orthopedic Association Emerging Leaders Forum and has published studies in multiple areas of sports medicine with a focus on the hip and upper extremity.

At the world-renowned Steadman Clinic in Vail, Colorado, Dr. Frank completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine, where he helped treat athletes across the country from the NFL, NBA, MLB, and MLS. 

Providing skilled, compassionate care, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.

With a particular interest in taking care of athletes, Dr. Frank is a member of the medical staff for the US Ski and Snowboarding teams. He can also be found on staff at Marina Del Rey Hospital and Olympia Medical Center.

Continuously advancing his efforts, he is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine, and the American Orthopedic Association – Emerging Leaders.
