Get to know Plastic Surgeon Dr. Pirko Maguina, who serves patients in Sacramento, California.

Dr. Maguina is a California-based award-winning plastic surgeon who has been recognized not only for excellence in patient care, but also for excellence in education and social responsibility. He works with patients at Ideal Plastic Surgery in Sacramento.

Ideal Plastic Surgery first opened its doors in July 2020, with the ideology of being a patient-driven facility offering only the highest quality and latest technology advances in cosmetic surgery. Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. Maguina graduated with his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. He served as an Associate Professor at the University of California, Davis for 12 years and continues to provide surgeries at Shriners Hospital for Children. He has published dozens of scientific articles and book chapters, and is a member of the editorial board and reviewer of plastic surgery publications.

Having given over 100 lectures on plastic surgery both nationally and internationally, the doctor is board-certified in plastic surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery (ABPS). The mission of the ABPS is to promote safe, ethical, efficacious plastic surgery to the public by maintaining high standards for the education, examination, certification, and continuous certification of plastic surgeons as specialists and subspecialists.

A plastic surgeon’s primary responsibility is performing surgical and non-surgical procedures, and they use a variety of reparative and reconstructive techniques to get the job done.

Among his most notable achievements, Dr. Maguina has been the recipient of the On-Time Doctor Award (2018, 2017, 2015, 2014, 2009), Patients’ Choice Award (2018, 2017, 2015), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2017, 2014).

A native of Germany and Peru, he is fluent in three languages: English, German, and Spanish.
