A seasoned maternal-fetal medicine specialist, Dr. DeStefano founded Austin Maternal-Fetal Medicine in 2009, and serves as Medical Director of Maternal-Fetal Medicine for St. David’s Women’s Center of Texas.

“My passion is to provide care that focuses on building a relationship with the patient and referring provider to optimally manage both the medical and emotional aspects of a high risk pregnancy. Pregnancies in general can be stressful, and all the more so when a complication arises” stated the doctor.

As a physician and a mother, Dr. DeStefano considers it a pleasure to have the opportunity to improve the outcomes for women and infants in these circumstances while also providing compassionate support throughout the journey.

Her areas of expertise include perinatal ultrasound, fetal echocardiography, amniocentesis, chorionic villus sampling, and cerclage placement (vaginal & abdominal).

Back in 2001, Dr. DeStefano graduated with her medical degree from the Joe R. and Teresa Lozano Long School of Medicine. She then went on to perform her residency

Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (FACOG), she is a member of the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine and the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine.

Furthermore, she is board-certified in maternal-fetal medicine & obstetrics and gynecology by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG). For pregnant women with chronic health problems or other complications during their pregnancy, MFM specialists work to keep them as healthy as possible while their bodies carry a pregnancy. They also care for women who face unexpected problems that develop during pregnancy such as early labor, bleeding or high blood pressure.

Among Dr. DeStefano’s accolades include Patients’ Choice Award (2010) and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2010).

In her off time, she enjoys spending time with her family, scrapbooking, and horseback riding. She speaks both English and Spanish.
