Get to know Phlebologist Dr. Sean McWilliams, who serves patients in Illinois.

Dr. McWilliams is a phlebologist with specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of varicose vein disease and related disorders. 

At USA Vein Clinics (Plainfield), he specializes in vein disease treatment options, including ultrasound-guided foam sclerotherapy and endovenous thermal ablation. 

The Plainfield vein clinic is composed of highly trained clinical professionals–from vascular doctors and physician assistants to nurses and ultrasound technicians. The experienced doctor and staff specialize in providing modern diagnosis and minimally invasive vein disease treatments that are scientifically proven for improving vein health. 

On the subject of his educational background, Dr. McWilliams graduated with his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University in 1995. He then went on to perform the MacNeal Family Practice Residency at Loyola Medicine MacNeal Hospital in 1998.

With more than two decades of experience, the doctor is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties. 

In affiliation with a number of professional organizations, Dr. McWilliams is an active member of the American Vein and Lymphatic Society, the American Academy of Family Physicians, the American Medical Association, the Chicago Medical Society, and the Illinois State Medical Society.

Phlebology is a term used to describe the specialty of venous disorder treatments. A medically certified specialist in phlebology is called a phlebologist. Specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of venous origin, their abilities include developing the most effective research methods, making a diagnosis, and prescribing the proper treatment.
