Dr. Thomas is a general laparoscopic & thoracic surgeon who has been working at Southern Surgical Specialists, LLC since 2000. Dr. Thomas completed his medical education at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine. Thereafter, he went on to complete his residency in general surgery in New Orleans. 

Dr. Thomas is board certified in surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS). The ABS is an independent, nonprofit organization founded in 1937 to provide board certification to individuals who have met a defined standard of education, training, and knowledge in the field of surgery.

Dr. Thomas is currently a member in good standing with the American College of Surgeons, the American Medical Association, the American Board of Surgery, and the Louisiana State Medical Society. 

Cardiothoracic surgery, also known as thoracic surgery, is the field of medicine involved in surgical treatment of organs inside the thorax (generally treatment of conditions of the heart and lungs).
