Get to know Family Physician Dr. Anca Voinov, who serves patients in Casper, Wyoming.

Dr. Voinov is a board-certified family physician. She loves forming relationships with her patients and helping them to make positive changes in their lives. Education and prevention are the cornerstones of her practice.

Dr. Voinov is affiliated with Sage Primary Care – Wyoming Medical Center in Casper, Wyoming. Sage is a patient-centered medical home, meaning patients are included in every aspect of their care. It takes a team approach to health care – one that Dr. Voinov appreciates. “As doctors we were really taught to have a lot of control. Now, we have to work as a team to provide for the patient’s best care. Patients do so much better when we work together. This is the new model of patient-centered health care” said Dr. Voinov.

Dr. Voinov is board-certified in family medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). Founded in 1969, the ABFM is a not-for-profit, private organization whose mission is to improve the health of the public through board certification, residency training, research, leadership development, and by promoting the development of the specialty of family medicine.

Dr. Voinov has been honored with several awards, including the Biopsychosocial Model and Family-Centered Care Award,  McLaren Family Practice Residency Program’s Employee of the Year Award, and Top 25 Family Practitioner 2014 award.

Dr. Voinov was born in Romania and immigrated to Canada at the age of 10 to flee the Communist regime. She returned to Romania as a young woman to attend medical school; however, after graduation, she took a 17-year break to raise her children.

Dr. Voinov received her medical degree from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania. Upon relocating to the United States, she went on to complete her internship and residency in family practice at McLaren Regional Medical Center in Flint, Michigan.

Family medicine, formerly family practice, is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. As a family physician, Dr. Voinov provides a full range of healthcare services, treating all genders and age groups and building long-term patient relationships. She chose family medicine because it offered the greatest variety – caring for patients of all ages.
