  • How long is colorectal surgery recovery?

It depends on many factors: condition treated, urgency of the operation, type of the operation (open or laparoscopic), and very often the rest of the medical conditions the patient has and prior surgical history. I do mostly laparoscopic surgery and I usually admit and operate Tuesday and discharge the patient home that Friday or Saturday. However, in the United States, more than 50% of colorectal surgeries are done open because laparoscopy requires special skills. READ MORE

  • Can you live a normal life after gallbladder removal?

Absolutely! I don't give any dietary restrictions to my patients after gallbladder surgery - they will find out themselves if they will develop some degree of food intolerance. READ MORE

  • How long is bed rest after gallstones surgery?

Bed rest is not recommended after laparoscopic removal of the gallbladder. You will need to walk, you may go up and down stairs, even do light shopping. READ MORE

  • How successful is rectal surgery to remove hemorrhoids?

There are different types of hemorrhoids, therefore there are different treatments, and not all of them mean surgery. The correct diagnosis, followed by the appropriate treatment, is very effective, as long as the patient understands that, once you have hemorrhoids, you are going to have to practice some common sense measures, in order to prevent reoccurence or flair-ups. A surgeon trained in colorectal surgery, such as I am, should be able to aswer all your questions and recommend the best treatment. READ MORE
