Get to know Diagnostic Radiologist Dr. Jeffrey A. Himmelberg, who serves patients in Omaha, Nebraska.

Dr. Himmelberg is the Medical Director and Owner of Pura Vida Vein Center & Wellness Spa in Omaha, Nebraska. He boasts extensive experience in medical aesthetics and is nationally recognized for his expertise in endovenous laser ablation for varicose vein treatment. 

Utilizing state-of-the-art laser and radiofrequency ablation systems, his patients benefit from safe and effective cosmetic laser treatments and laser vein surgeries, often requiring minimal recovery time.

Co-founding Advanced Radiology, Dr. Himmelberg has contributed to the practice receiving the prestigious Angiodynamics Venacure ECVLT Award of Excellence for three consecutive years. With over 2,000 varicose vein procedures under his belt, he continues to be a sought-after lecturer on this topic in the region. 

In regards to his educational background, Dr. Himmelberg attended college at the University of Nebraska – Lincoln, where he was elected to the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He then attended medical school and performed his residency in radiology at the University of Nebraska Medical Center. His training continued at Northwestern University in Chicago, where he did his fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology, specializing in microinvasive procedures. 

Board certified in vascular and interventional radiology, Dr. Himmelberg is a Diplomate of the American Board of Radiology (ABR). The ABR is an independent, not-for-profit organization and is one of 24 national medical specialty boards that make up the American Board of Medical Specialties.

Diagnostic radiology refers to the field of medicine that uses non-invasive imaging scans to diagnose a variety of cardiovascular disease entities. The tests and equipment used sometimes involve low doses of radiation to create highly detailed images of an area. A diagnostic radiologist is a medical doctor who specializes in diagnosing and treating disease and injury, using medical imaging techniques such as x-rays, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET), fusion imaging, and ultrasound.

Dr. Himmelberg is an invited speaker at multiple medical meetings, including the Society of Interventional Radiology annual meeting and the Radiological Society of North America.
