A board-certified gynecologic oncologist, Dr. McCann is affiliated with Bon Secours Gynecologic Oncology Specialists, serving patients in Newport News, and Suffolk, Virginia.
Performing major gynecologic surgeries, he focuses on medical and surgical management of patients with ovarian, endometrial, vulvar and cervical cancer with an emphasis on minimally invasive techniques, including laparoscopy and robotic-assisted laparoscopy to enhance traditional gynecologic oncology procedures.
Back in the early days of his academic career, Dr. McCann graduated with his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He then went on to complete his internship and residency at Mount Sinai Hospital / St. Francis Hospital, and his fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in gynecologic oncology and obstetrics & gynecology through the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG), which is an organization that provides board certification to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) who specialize in the care of the female reproductive tract and children during the course of pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period (obstetricians) and to qualified Doctors of Osteopathic Medicine who specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of the female reproductive tract (gynecologists).
