His career in medicine began in 1992 when he graduated with his Medical Degree from Ain Shams University in Egypt. After medical school, Dr. Atwa completed his internship with the Abington Memorial Hospital in Pennsylvania, followed by his general surgery residency with University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. Driven to further his expertise and knowledge, he undertook his fellowship at the University of Texas Health Science Center – McAllen. As well as performing a mini fellowship in Bariatric surgery at the Cleveland clinic and at Duke. Dr. Atwa is certified by the American Board of Surgery, and has dedicated his life to delivering compassionate care. He is determined to enhance his patients’ quality of life, providing high quality, individualized care in order to ensure the most optimal results. With a passion for his work, Dr. Atwa is noted for his expertise in general surgery, bariatric surgery, colon & rectal surgery, and minimally invasive surgery.
