Get to know Pulmonologist Dr. Sadia Shah, who serves patients in Jacksonville, Florida.

Recognized as a caring and compassionate pulmonologist, Dr. Shah is affiliated with Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida. She is also the Medical Director for the Larynx-Trachea Transplant Program and the Interim Medical Director for Lung Transplant Program at Mayo Clinic Arizona.

Her specific areas of interest include lung transplant acute cellular rejection, antibody mediated rejection, bronchiolitis obliterans, lung transplant infection, vascularized composite allo-transplantation, pulmonary fibrosis, interstitial lung disease secondary to connective tissue disease, and hypersensitivity pneumonitis.

In regards to her educational background, Dr. Shah graduated with her Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Isra University in Pakistan in 2004. Upon relocating to the United States, she completed her residency in internal medicine and her fellowship in pulmonary & critical care medicine with the Henry Ford Health System in 2011 and 2014, respectively. 

Subsequently, she completed an additional fellowship in lung and heart-lung transplant at the Stanford University Medical Center in 2015, and received her Master of Business Administration degree (MBA) from the University of Massachusetts, Isenberg School of Management in 2020.

Passionate about her profession, the doctor is board-certified in pulmonary disease, critical care medicine, and internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

Recognized as a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (FCCP), Dr. Shah is an active member of the American Heart Association, the American Medical Association, the American College of Physicians, the Harvard University Postgraduate Association, the American Thoracic Society, the International Society for Heart & Lung Transplantation, the American Society of Transplantation, and various other societies and organizations.

Pulmonology is a medical specialty that deals with diseases involving the respiratory tract. A pulmonologist is an internal medicine physician who specializes in preventing, diagnosing, and treating conditions and diseases that affect the lungs, bronchial tubes, and the respiratory system, including the nose, pharynx, and throat.

Among her most notable achievements, Dr. Shah has been the recipient of the MEGA Program Award (2018), and was an invited moderator for Literature Review by CHEST.
