Get to know Dentist Dr. Anthony B. Bonura, who serves patients in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey.

Dr. Bonura is dedicated to excellence in general, cosmetic, and restorative dentistry at his private practice in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey. He and his entire team of professionals remain devoted to restoring and enhancing the natural beauty of one’s smile using conservative, state-of-the-art procedures.

True believers that preventative care and education are the keys to optimal dental health, they strive to provide “dental health care” vs. “disease care”.  That is why they focus on thorough exams – checking the overall health of teeth and gums, performing oral cancer exams, and taking x-rays when necessary. They also know that routine cleanings, flossing, sealants, and fluoride are all helpful in preventing dental disease.

Following the completion of his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD) degree from the Tufts University School of Dental Medicine, Dr. Bonura served a General Practice Residency in Seattle as a Commissioned Officer in the Dental Corps of the United States Public Health Service. He returned to his hometown of Lodi and opened his dental practice there in 1982. Years later, in 1988, he relocated his practice to Hasbrouck Heights.

Having been providing quality dental care for over three decades, Dr. Bonura’s main focus is on oral hygiene and preventive dentistry, which if addressed properly and consistently, can significantly improve a patient’s smile. In addition to thorough cleaning performed by registered dental hygienists, he uses digital radiography to detect potential developmental abnormalities, bone loss, and other issues before they advance in severity. Likewise, when conditions require esthetic treatment, he draws on his working relationships with a select group of specialists in esthetic restorative dentistry.

With new modes of treatment and technology being introduced frequently, Dr. Bonura stays current by regularly attending continuing education courses in dental practices. He maintains memberships with the American Dental Association, the Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, and the Academy of Sports Dentistry.

Dentistry, also known as Dental and Oral Medicine, is a branch of medicine that consists of the study, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of diseases, disorders, and conditions of the oral cavity. Dentists diagnose and treat dental issues and help patients develop better oral hygiene regimens. They clean teeth, correct bite issues, perform surgeries and extractions, and perform other duties to ensure that the teeth and mouth are healthy.
