Get to know Radiation Oncologist Dr. J. Arturo Castro-Sandoval, who serves patients in El Paso, Texas.

Dr. Castro-Sandoval has practiced for many years in the field of radiology and oncology prior to joining El Paso Integrated Physicians Group, P.A. in 2008 which include Providence Memorial Hospital, El Paso Cancer Treatment Center (where he was Chief of Medical Staff in 1993), Las Palmas Regional Oncology Center, and Del Sol Regional Oncology Center.

Back in 1974, Dr. Castro-Sandoval graduated from the Faculty of Medicine at the Autonomous University of Chihuahua in Mexico. He then completed his internship at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston, and his residencies in therapeutic radiology and anesthesiology at Baylor College of Medicine.

With over five decades of experience, he is experienced in helping patients with the following issues / conditions: brain cancer, cervical cancer, Cushing’s Syndrome, leukemia, lung cancer, and vaginal cancer. 

Radiation oncology is a medical specialty that involves the controlled use of radiation to treat cancer. It is one of the three primary specialties – the other two being surgical and medical oncology – involved in the treatment of cancer. A radiation oncologist is a specialist physician who uses ionizing radiation in the treatment of cancer.

On a more personal note, Dr. Castro-Sandoval speaks both English and Spanish.
