With the goal of minimal recovery time, Dr. Vasiu utilizes a less invasive approach and is committed to pursuing all conservative treatment options before recommending surgery. Some of the services and procedures that he performs include: fracture care, knee and shoulder arthroscopy, pediatric fracture care, hand and carpal tunnel surgery, ACL reconstruction and total joint replacement of the knee.
A Past Chairman of the Orthopedic Department of Metro Health Hospital, he has been an Orthopedic Consultant for the Grand Rapids Hoops CBA Basketball Team and a Member of the Board of Directors at Grand Valley Surgical Center.
Following the completion of his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from the Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1994, Dr. Vasiu went on to complete his internship at Michigan Capital Medical Center. He then completed his residency at Ingham Regional Medical Center, Lansing, MI, followed by his fellowship in orthopedic trauma at the University Clinic for Traumatology in Graz, Austria.
With an unwavering commitment to his speciality, he is board-certified in orthopedic surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery (FAAOS).
