Dr. Chun Joey Chang, MD
Emergency Physician
1111 W La Palma Ave Anaheim CA, 92801About
Dr. Chun Joey Chang is an emergency physician working primarily at Anaheim Regional Medical Center. He majored in philosophy and genetics at UC Davis winning many awards and doing researches. He then went to UCLA Medical School on a full scholarship after teaching at a medical magnet middle school in Watts.
After an internship in Massachusetts, Dr. Chang was chosen as one of the top three candidates by Johns Hopkins to study physical medicine and rehabilitation. He wanted to study more "medicine" so chose San Francisco for an internal medicine program but didn't feel complete as a doctor unable to treat everyone but only adults. He therefore came down to Los Angeles and worked as an urgent care physician treating everyone while enjoying living on a beach. Hoping to treat more critically ill patients, he went back to his UC roots and completed a UC Davis Affiliated Stanislaus Family Medicine Residency Program and an emergency medicine fellowship at another UC Davis Affiliated Mercy Merced Medical Center.
Since then, he has worked at various hospitals for Valley Emergency Physicians, Emergent Medical Associates, Vituity, Teamhealth and several independent organizations. He gained valuable experience on how to handle gunshot, knife and other serious traumatic emergencies while working at extremely busy trauma centers. Furthermore, he has been given awards for saving lives that most likely could have been otherwise, such as "Clinical Excellence Award" and others.
Dr. Chang has worked as a leader for sepsis, strokes, radiology, obstetrics and gynecological emergencies and pharmacy related issues. He is consistently voted as a top physician at emergency departments by various standards, for example, for efficiency for seeing the most number of patients per hour or having high patient satisfaction scores. He is currently a level three partner for Vituity working at emergency departments in Garden Grove and Apple Valley. He is a beloved full time emergency physician at Anaheim Regional Medical Center. Additionally, he still helps out as a hospitalist and an emergency physician in Lake Arrowhead and at Garfield Medical Center.
Board certified in Emergency Medicine by the American Board of Physician Specialties and separately in Family Medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine, he has been chosen to develop and review written and oral board emergency board certification examinations for ABPS.
Over the years, he has been awarded numerous awards as a medical student, resident, and attending. He has helped students and residents at the most recent California American College of Emergency Physicians conference. He is rated as a top national lecturer after various ultrasound workshops for residents and medical students. He has served as a chair and advisor for a national Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care Medical Interest Group and an officer for the Point of Care Ultrasound Medical Interest Group.
Currently, he serves the Bylaws Committee at Anaheim Regional Medical Center governing affairs of all the doctors of the hospital.
Dr. Chang aspires to represent how a physician should practice medicine: with highest clinical acumen and unbiased care for each patient. He is currently learning from the top physicians and teachers in the fields of aesthetics, and he has been on the cover for various aesthetics workshops. As a doctor of aesthetics, his goal is to help clients look naturally beautiful and young and save them from looking artificially young. As a doctor of emergency medicine, his goal is to save as many lives as possible in the most humane way.
