Get to know Family Physician Dr. Durga Prasad Mekala, who serves patients in Arlington, Texas.

Specializing in family practice and geriatrics since 1993, Dr. Mekala is the Owner & Operator of PSMD Medical Associates PA in Arlington, Texas.

Currently practicing in the Arlington area, he is affiliated with Medical City of Arlington, Texas Health Arlington Memorial, Texas Health Heart & Vascular Hospital Arlington, Kindred Hospital, Encompass Health Rehabilitation Hospital, and Texas Rehabilitation Hospital.

Educated in India, Dr. Mekala obtained his medical degree from Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College in 1992. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency at Carilion Clinic Family Medicine – Roanoke Salem in 2009, and his fellowship in geriatrics in 2010.

Prior to moving to Virginia for residency, he worked in a private practice in Jamaica for over ten years since 1995.

Sought out for his years of experience in providing continuing and comprehensive health care, he is board-certified in family medicine and geriatric medicine by the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM). The ABFM is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties.

Family medicine is a medical specialty devoted to comprehensive health care for people of all ages. The specialist is called a family physician or family doctor. A family physician is often the first person a patient sees when seeking healthcare services. They examine and treat patients with a wide range of conditions and refer those with serious ailments to a specialist or appropriate facility. 

As a testament to his success, Dr. Mekala is the recipient of the Top Doctor Award (2018) and Patients’ Choice Award (2014).
