Serving the East Bay, San Francisco, and surrounding communities, Eastbay Medical Clinics specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases and conditions affecting adults. The clinics offer a variety of services, including diagnosis and management of chronic conditions; coordination of chronic and complex care; treatment of acute illness, asthma, emphysema, COPD, allergies; cardiac disease, including heart attack, arrhythmia, heart failure, high blood pressure, high cholesterol; diabetes management; chronic back and neck pain management; psychiatric conditions, including depression and anxiety; additionally Dr. Gharagozlou assesses and treats a wide variety of sleep related conditions like insomnia, sleep apnea, restless legs syndrome and parasomnias as well as central causes of sleepiness like narcolepsy and related conditions.

With a broad educational background, Dr. Gharagozlou graduated with his medical degree from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in Iran in 1998. He then relocated to the United States, performing his internship and residency at SUNY-Downstate Medical Center, followed by a fellowship in neuropharmacology at the Molecular Research Institute in Mountain View, California.

He was also trained at the New Jersey Neuroscience Institute by two world-renowned authorities on sleep disorders: Dr. Sudhansu Chokroverty, founding president of the World Association of Sleep Medicine; and Dr. Arthur Walters, known internationally as a pioneer in the study of restless legs syndrome and related conditions. His comprehensive training equipped him to evaluate and manage complex sleep disorders in adults and children. 

With a goal to maximize patients’ health and well-being, the doctor attained board certification in sleep medicine through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In 2006, Dr. Gharagozlou started practicing medicine as an attending physician at the Rochester General Hospital in Upstate New York. He then served as an attending physician at the North Bay Medical Center, after which he opened his private practice in Concord in 2011.

Since then, he has opened another branch in Antioch and enjoys thriving in private practice. He is also an attending physician at John Muir Medical Center.

Along with multiple other national and state society memberships, Dr. Gharagozlou is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP) and a member of the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery.

Sleep medicine is a medical specialty or subspecialty devoted to the diagnosis and therapy of sleep disturbances and disorders. Sleep medicine specialists are trained to diagnose, treat, and manage various types of sleep disorders.
