Dr. Suthar is a board-certified physical medicine and rehabilitation and pain management specialist. In addition to his affiliation with Mary Washington Healthcare, he serves patients at Mary Washington Spine and Rehabilitation in Fredericksburg, Virginia.

As part of Mary Washington Healthcare, Mary Washington Spine and Rehabilitation delivers a multidisciplinary, team-based approach to the prevention, evaluation, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of painful disorders. The staff practices advanced techniques, including interventional procedures, medication management, behavioral therapy, and rehabilitation or a combination of these to address complex and multidimensional pain syndromes. They offer simple procedures to alleviate pain, including many non-surgical and minimally invasive procedures to treat pain precisely at the problematic site, which improves the underlying problem and thereby relieves the pain.

Recognized as a leader and expert in his field, Dr. Suthar holds the title of Fellow of the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University and then went on to complete his internship at the University of Alabama. Wanting to further his education, he completed his residency in physical medicine & rehabilitation at LSU Health New Orleans Health Sciences Center, followed by his fellowship in pain medicine at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, New Hampshire. 

Following his education, the doctor became board-certified in pain medicine and physical medicine & rehabilitation by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (ABPMR). The mission of the ABPMR is to serve the public by improving the quality of patient care in physical medicine and rehabilitation.

Pain management, pain medicine, pain control or algiatry, is a branch of medicine employing an interdisciplinary approach for easing the suffering and improving the quality of life of those living with chronic pain. A pain management specialist is a doctor who specializes in pain medicine, focusing on the evaluation, treatment, and prevention of pain.
