Pertaining to his educational pursuits, he completed his General Pediatrics Residency training at Mercer University and furthered his education with a Neonatal Fellowship at Emory University. He is dual board-certified in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, showcasing his commitment to clinical excellence and patient care. His extensive experience includes spearheading the creation and expansion of numerous Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) across Georgia and Texas, reflecting his dedication to improving neonatal health services.
Currently serving as the NICU Medical Director at Lake Charles Medical Center in Louisiana and UT-Tyler Health System in Texas, Dr. Castillo is recognized for his leadership in neonatal care. His role on the State of Georgia’s NICU Leveling Committee and as a surveyor for TETAF in Texas demonstrates his influence in shaping standards for neonatal care statewide.
In addition to his clinical roles, he has been actively involved in various hospital committees, including the Medical Executive Committee, Biomedical Ethics, Information Technology, and Peer Review.
