Dr. Amie Sun-Wright, MD. Ph.D. --Dr. Sun-Wright is an internist in Houston, Texas.  She received her Ph.D. of Biochemistry from University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, and medical degree from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School Of Medicine.  She has been practicing in North Houston area for over 15 years, .  

As the founder of New Wave Physicians Group, she leads a group of medical providers to make sure our patients needs are met.  Besides taking care of acute care patients, we also manage different chronic diseases for patients one year old and up.  Our focus is prevention, wellness and longevity.  

At New Wave Physicians Group, we accepts all major types of Health Insurances.   During the pandemic period, we also started the direct patient care program to help patients who are temporarily without health insurance.

Prior to her current endeavors, Dr. Sun-Wright was an Assistant Instructor in the Department of Cellular and Structural Biology at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio, Texas.

In addition to her role as an internist, she is a Certified Clinical Densitometrist (CCD). A CCD is accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, a professional designation awarded to clinicians who meet specified knowledge requirements measured through a standardized testing process for the interpretation of bone densitometry.

As for the doctor’s accomplishments, she is board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world. 

During her academic career, Dr. Sun-Wright earned her medical degree from the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine in Lubbock, Texas in 2005. She then went on to complete her internship and residency in internal medicine at Methodist Hospitals of Dallas. Additionally, she holds a Master of Science in Biochemistry and a Doctor of Philosophy from the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in San Antonio, Texas.

Internal medicine is the medical specialty dealing with the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of adult diseases. Physicians specializing in internal medicine are called internists. They are skilled in the management of patients who have undifferentiated or multi-system disease processes. They also care for hospitalized and ambulatory patients and may play a major role in teaching and research.
