Having been practicing psychiatry since 2002, Dr. Nigam founded Southern Illinois Associates, LLC in 2004, serving as CEO.
Southern Illinois Associates, LLC emphasizes assessment, treatment, and management of physiological health. The psychiatric staff offer quality and convenient psychiatric, psychological, and counseling services to families, all under one roof. The team has also been providing behavioral health care for several southern Illinois counties, including several nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and group homes.
With special training in providing Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), Dr. Nigam is a REMS certified provider for Esketamine/SPRAVATO treatment.

Educated in India, Dr. Nigam graduated with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree from Maulana Azad Medical College in 1990. He then relocated to the United States, performing his residency within the Department of Psychiatry and Neurology at the University of Missouri, after which he moved to St. Louis University for his last year of residency.
Following his training, the doctor attained board certification in psychiatry through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
Prior to his current endeavors, Dr. Nigam served in the role of psychiatric director within the Geriatric Behavioral Health Unit at Greenville Regional Hospital, consulting psychiatrist at Anderson Hospital, attending psychiatrist at Gateway Regional Hospital, consultant psychiatrist at St. Anthony’s Hospital, and as medical director at the Community Counseling Center of Alton.
On a professional level, he is a member of the American Psychiatric Association and the Clinical TMS Society.
