Get to know Ophthalmologist Dr. Maz Kazahaya, who serves patients throughout the State of Pennsylvania.

Well-versed in the field of ophthalmology, Dr. Kazahaya is affiliated with Lehigh Eye Specialists, seeing patients at their offices in Allentown, and Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. He specializes in the diseases and surgery of the retina and vitreous.

Lehigh Eye Specialists specializes in the medical and surgical care of ophthalmic diseases and abnormalities. With extensive experience in their respective areas of expertise, their fellowship-trained ophthalmologists are able to provide patients with the most advanced, specialty ophthalmic care. Together with their optometric specialists and professional staff, they strive to offer patients the highest quality, state-of-the-art eye care in a caring and compassionate environment.

With his expertise and specialized equipment, Dr. Kazahaya offers the most advanced care for diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, retinal tears and detachments, macular holes, macular pucker, floaters, and posterior complications of cataract surgery.

A graduate of the University of Pennsylvania where he obtained his Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Science degree in Bioengineering, he earned his medical degree from the Hahnemann University School of Medicine. He completed his internship at TAH-LVHC (now Lehigh Valley Health Network) and his residency in ophthalmology at Hahnemann University. Later, he received additional training as a fellow in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the University of Virginia.

Passionate about his profession, the doctor is board-certified in ophthalmology by the American Board of Ophthalmology, an independent, non-profit organization responsible for certifying ophthalmologists in the United States of America.

Achieving fellowship status, Dr. Kazahaya is a Fellow of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (FASCRS), and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS).

In his professional experience, he has served as Chief of the Division of Ophthalmology at Lehigh Valley Health Network since 2002, and is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine – Lehigh Valley.

Ophthalmology is a branch of medicine and surgery, which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of eye disorders. Ophthalmologists are experts in the diseases, functions, and anatomy of the eye. Ophthalmologists are also surgeons. They repair traumatic injuries to the eye and may perform cataract, glaucoma, and corneal surgery.

Among his various accolades, Dr. Kazahaya has been the recipient of the Patients’ Choice Award (2015), On-Time Doctor Award (2015), and Compassionate Doctor Recognition (2015).
