Dr. Maxa has received several honors and awards for his clinical expertise, including the Roentgen Award for Radiological research (1993), the Canby Robinson Society Scholarship, (1990-1993), and the Burrus Scholarship (1990-1993) - among others.

Dr. Maxa is a member of the Medical Association of Georgia (MAG). Established in 1849, MAG is an organization in Georgia that advocates for physicians in the state.

Dr. Maxa is a Greater Atlanta Christian Volunteer for Annual Physicals, as well as a member of the Gwinnett Medical Center Physicians Admissions Committee.
