Dr. Vallabhaneni is a native of Austin for over 10 years. She completed her internship and residency in Internal Medicine from Austin Medical Education Programs at Brackenridge Hospital and has been working with several Hospitals in Austin for the last 7 years. She takes pride in working at several hospitals in medically underserved areas around Austin. Dr. Vani Vallabhaneni hails from India. She completed her MD from Lady Hardinge Medical College in New Delhi which is ranked among the top 5 medical colleges in the country. After completing her Internship and Medical Doctorate she practiced at several prestigious hospitals in New Delhi like AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences, highest rated public hospital in the country) and GM Modi Hospital. She moved to Austin, TX in 1998. After completing residency at Brackenridge Hospital, she has been working in and around Austin area since 2004. She has also worked in medically underserved areas around Austin like Rosebud and Rockdale. During this time, she has started Cameron Sleep Disorders Center which has a two bed sleep lab and sleep clinic. She has created community awareness of sleep disorders by educating the public during several community meetings in Cameron and Rockdale. Dr. Vallabhaneni is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Sleep Medicine by American Board of Internal Medicine and American Board of Medical Specialties.Dr. Vallabhaneni and her husband have been married for 18 years and have two sons aged 17 and 15. She enjoys playing tennis and outdoor activities.

Insomnia is diagnosed by clinical history. Talk to your scheduler and see if they can start using a set schedule as it is beneficial for employees and patients. 8-hour shifts are better than 12-hour shifts. Can snoring be associated with a health problem?
Snoring is because of vibration of soft tissue in upper airway, which occurs when air is struggling to enter the lungs. Normally the muscles relax when we sleep. In patients with Obstructive sleep apnea, the airway becomes very narrow such that air is struggling to pass through the narrow airway and the soft tissue start vibrating, creating the sound of snoring. Is there a way to control sleepwalking?
Although sleep walking is commonly seen in this age group with a prevalence of 17%, sleep deprivation and situational stress are most common factors, but several medical conditions and genetic factors can predispose sleep walking. Consider full face mask so you can breathe through mouth when nasal airway is congested or inflamed from allergies. Consider suing saline nasal spray regularly or saline nasal gel and use Flonase nasal spray on severely congested days. Consider ENT evaluation.
