Get to know Non-Surgical Sports Medicine Physician Dr. Lauren D. Inners, who serves patients in Hanover, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Inners is a reputable non-operative sports medicine physician working with WellSpan Orthopedics in Hanover, Pennsylvania, which she joined in 2018. She serves in an orthopedic office alongside 4 orthopedic surgeons. Dr. Inners devotes half of her time to her work in a sports medicine clinic. She spends the remaining half of her time working as Site Director for an urgent orthopedic clinic. In addition to giving ultrasound injections, she tends to fractures and acute injuries. Moreover, Dr. Inners covers high school football and various sporting events for several local schools. 

In 2014, Dr. Inners received her Doctor of Osteopathy degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.. She then pursued her family medicine residency at Abington Memorial Hospital (2014-2017). Determined to establish a career as a sports medicine physician, Dr. Inners completed her primary care sports medicine fellowship with Lehigh Valley Hospital (2017 – 2018). Prior to medical school, she acquired a Bachelor of Science degree in athletic training from the University of Pittsburgh (2010).

Board-certified in family medicine with the American Board of Family Medicine, Dr. Inners holds a Certificate of Added Qualification in Sports Medicine from the same certifying body. The American Board of Family Medicine is a non-profit, independent medical association of American physicians who practice in family medicine and its sub-specialties

Sports medicine is a branch of medicine that deals with physical fitness and the treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise. Specializing in the treatment of athletes and other physically active individuals, sports medicine physicians have extensive education in musculoskeletal medicine. They treat injuries such as muscle, ligament, tendon and bone problems, but may also treat chronic illnesses that can affect physical performance, such as asthma and diabetes. They also advise on managing and preventing injuries.
