Get to know Nephrologist Dr. Duminda S. Siripala, who serves patients in Huntingdon, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Siripala is a board-certified nephrologist who is affiliated with Penn Highlands Huntingdon. He is experienced in acute renal failure, acute interstitial nephritis, glomerular disease, anti-glomerular basement membrane disease, and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis.

For more than a century, Penn Highlands Huntingdon has continuously expanded to meet the changing needs of the communities it serves. The progressive hospital has been committed to improving the quality of inpatient and outpatient care by introducing innovative procedures and the latest technology.

Back in 2006, Dr. Siripala graduated with his medical degree from St. George’s University School of Medicine. He then went on to perform his residency in internal medicine at Jamaica Hospital Medical Center in 2011, and his fellowship in nephrology at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in 2016.

Subsequent to his education, the doctor attained board certification in internal medicine and nephrology through the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.

In order to stay up to date in his field, Dr. Siripala remains an active member of the American Society of Nephrology.

Practicing medicine in Pennsylvania, he is affiliated with James E. Van Zandt Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Conemaugh Nason Medical Center, J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, UPMC Altoona, and UPMC Bedford.

Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care or kidney transplantation when it becomes necessary.
