A dual board certified addiction psychiatrist, Dr. Syed holds significant roles within Ascension Alexian Brothers – Behavioral Health Hospital and the Ascension Illinois – Foglia Family Foundation Residential Treatment Center, serving as the President of the Medical Staff and the Medical Director respectively since 2019.
Graduating from the American University of the Caribbean School of Medicine in 2004, Dr. Syed pursued further education. He completed a residency in psychiatry at Chicago Medical School/Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine & Science from 2004 to 2008, followed by a fellowship in addiction medicine at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago from 2008 to 2009.
With board certifications in psychiatry and addiction psychiatry, Dr. Syed is esteemed as a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The ABPN is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to serving the professions of psychiatry and neurology.
