His clinical practice includes microsurgery, minimally invasive surgery, fusion, and non-fusion procedures. He treats patients of all ages with a variety of spinal disorders including stenosis, spinal cord compression, disc bulges, or herniations, and he specializes in the treatment of athletic spine injuries and scoliosis correction.

Educated in the United States, Dr. Dewal graduated with his medical degree from the SUNY Downstate Medical Center, before completing his research fellowship and his residency in orthopedic surgery at the NYU Hospital for Joint Diseases. Later, he completed his fellowship in spine surgery at the Cleveland Clinic.
Distinguished as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (FAAOS), the doctor attained board certification in orthopedic surgery and spine surgery through the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery (ABOS). The ABOS is an organization with the goal of establishing educational and professional standards for orthopedic residents and surgeons as well as evaluating the qualifications and competence of orthopedic surgeons.
Among his other roles, he serves as Section Chief of Spine Surgery at St. Catherine of Siena Medical Center, and can be found on staff at Huntington Hospital, Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, St. Francis Hospital, and Peconic Bay Medical Center.
His commitment to the community is evident by the many educational seminars he provides to hospital staff, school nurses, and the community on topics including scoliosis screening, postoperative care, and advanced innovative minimally invasive/laser technology. He has authored several book chapters, published numerous articles related to the spine, and lectured to professionals at national meetings.
