Associates in Nephrology have been providing services in Southwest Florida since 1984. In regards to his educational background, Dr. Rawal completed an Intermediate in Science course at St. Xavier Campus in Nepal in 1997. He then went on to graduate with his Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Science degree from B.P. Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Nepal in 2004.
Furthering his training, he served as a visiting resident within the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine in 2007. He then served as a visiting resident within the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at RUSH University Medical Center in May of 2008, and within the Division of Nephrology and Hypertension at Cleveland Clinic Foundation in August of 2008.
A year later, in 2009, he performed his residency in internal medicine at Mercy Health – The Jewish Hospital. He then served as a hospitalist at Union Hospital in Ohio from 2009 until 2010, after which he completed his fellowship in nephrology at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center in 2012.
A member of the Lee County Medical Society, Dr. Rawal is board-certified in internal medicine and nephrology by the American Board of Internal Medicine (ABIM). The ABIM is a physician-led, non-profit, independent evaluation organization driven by doctors who want to achieve higher standards for better care in a rapidly changing world.
Nephrology is a specialty of medicine and pediatrics that concerns itself with the kidneys. It is the study of normal kidney function and kidney disease, the preservation of kidney health, and the treatment of kidney disease, from diet and medication to renal replacement therapy. Nephrologists have advanced training in treating kidney disease. They diagnose and treat kidney failure, as well as help patients by prescribing medications, offering special diet advice, and coordinating dialysis care or kidney transplantation when it becomes necessary.
