Does screen time affect your vision?
Screen time can affect your vision. Mainly because when we stare at something, we blink less, so the eyes dry out and the lack of tears causes a decrease in vision. This can be remedied by taking more breaks, moving the screens back a little bit, and incorporating more breaks throughout the day. Hope this helps. READ MORE
Should my eye hurt after wearing contacts?
They should not hurt. If you are not overwearing your contacts (wearing them more than 12 hours/day or wearing them past the time that you should replace them) and wearing contacts that are a shape and material that is best for your eye, then you should not even notice your contacts. Next time you go to your eye doctor, let them know what you are experiencing and ask them if you can try another brand. Single use lenses may be a great option for you! READ MORE

Optometry is a health care profession that involves examining the eyes and applicable visual systems for defects or abnormalities, as well as diagnosing and managing eye disease. Optometrists are healthcare professionals who provide primary eye care through comprehensive eye examinations to detect and treat various visual abnormalities and eye diseases. Being a regulated profession, an optometrist’s scope of practice may differ depending on the location. Thus, disorders or diseases detected outside the treatment scope of optometry (i.e. those requiring certain surgical interventions) are referred out to relevant medical professionals for proper care, more commonly to ophthalmologists who are physicians that specialize in the tertiary medical and surgical care of the eye. Optometrists typically work closely together with other eye care professionals, such as ophthalmologists and opticians, to deliver quality and efficient eye care to the general public.
Dedicated to his community, Dr. Shenai is a proud member and past vice-president of NSU’s Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Optometrists. He has also been a member of the New Port Richey Rotary Club since 2017 and is always looking for ways to give back to his community.
